Brew News: October Edition

Hello there, Greenbush lovers; Jen here with your monthly update on all that’s good and coming up in our world. You may think this post is a little bit late–but did you see what we’ve been up to?!

This is our brand new merchandise (and misc.) cabinet, which practically appeared like magic in the taproom on Thursday night/Friday morning. Not only is it fancy, it’s chock full of new items! Three new men’s long sleeve shirts, two new women’s long sleeve shirts, a new pullover hoodie AND women’s sweatpants are now available, with even more cool stuff to come.

We hope everyone enjoyed the month of September as much as we did, what with the incredibly cool Check, Please! Farm to Table event at Round Barn over Labor Day Weekend, the UP Fall Beer Festival in Marquette, our crazy Autumn Equinox Party plus the Weko Beach Brewers and Valparaiso Brew Festivals. WHEW!

Now, into October… We already helped 8 Degrees Plato in Ferndale, MI celebrate their 1st anniversary with a Greenbush beer sampling at the store on October 5th. Congrats to Tim & Brigid–we love the place and we’re so happy to see how successful they’ve been in year one. Also this month, there’s another beer collaboration happening as I write! A bunch of the crew from Hopleaf in Chicago are here brewing up a brown ale for our beer dinner coming up on December 5.

Carrying on, we want to make sure you guys have all the incentive in the world to come visit us multiple times during the week (as if the beer isn’t enough… not to mention the sandwiches!) With that, I’m excited to announce Board Game Night! It all starts tomorrow night (October 9) and will be happening every other Tuesday. If you all make it really popular, we might move it to once a week. Come on in between 5 p.m. and last call (9:45 ish) and pick from the following games to stir up competition with your friends: Clue, Trivial Pursuit, Yahtzee, Bananagrams, Scattergories and Scrabble. We’d also love any donations of games in good condition for our collection. Looking forward to it!

Alright, let’s get down to the nitty gritty details with a roundup of events happening this month:

Sunday, October 28 – Tuesday, October 30: Pumpkin Carving Contest at Greenbush!

That’s right! We’re going to hold a pumpkin carving contest at the end of the month. We’ll give you details in a week or so, but you can bring carved pumpkins in to go on display in the taproom the 28th through the 30th. Then, on the 31st, the GB staff will judge the pumpkins and winners will be announced in the taproom that evening. Let’s see what ya got!

That covers this month’s events! As always keep an eye on our Facebook page for daily updates on what we’re up to. Stay tuned for the next couple editions of Brew News–we have beer dinners at Old Town Social (with Solemn Oath!), Hopleaf and Bangers & Lace on the docket, as well as Beer of the Month at Jake Melnick’s in December.
