Brew News: December Edition

Happy Holidays, Greenbush lovers! Jen here with your monthly update on all the goings-on involving the brewery. We’re in full swing for the holiday season and our halls are most definitely decked. We have tons of great options for holiday gifts for the Greenbush fan in your life, including some fabulous gift boxes. Wednesday, December 5: Beer Dinner at Hopleaf in Chicago, IL

Three words for ya: Wild. Boar. Pie. That’s smack in the middle of the incredible beer & food pairing menu that Ben at Hopleaf has worked up for Wednesday night’s beer dinner. In addition to said magical three words, dinner-goers will get to try out a new beer we collaborated with Hopleaf on, Insufficient Kitchen, a double brown ale with black peppercorns. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. CST and you may still be able to get tickets here for $75 each (not including tax and gratuity).

Saturday, December 8: Feliz Mazel Tov Holiday Party, 6 p.m. at Greenbush

There are some people that have been waiting for this one since last year’s holiday party came to a close. Tickets are already sold out for our second annual holiday bash featuring more beers on tap than you could ever dream of at Greenbush, including some very rare offerings. We’ll also have a very limited edition of commemorative t-shirts for sale with a design by one of our kitchen maestros, Ryan Beach. In order to control the crowd a wee bit (can you imagine everyone and their brother packed into the taproom?), we’ve limited the event to those who snatched up tickets in time–there will be no tickets sold at the door. Greenbush will close to the public at 4 p.m. on Saturday to prepare for the party and resume its normal hours on Sunday.

Wednesday, December 12: Tap Takeover at Ashley’s Westland in Westland, MI

A week from today we’re heading back to the east side of the state for another tap takeover. Ashley’s Ann Arbor is one of our favorite beer bars in the state, so we can’t wait to take over the draft list at their second location in Westland. Here are the beers that are slated for tapping: Jadis, Closure, Dunegras, Apathy, Distorter, Anger, Retribution, Mammoth, Ursus and Brother Benjamin. Rumor has it we may also try to bring a specialty growler for sampling… the beers will be tapped at 6 p.m.–don’t miss it!

Thursday, December 13: Beer Dinner at Bangers & Lace in Chicago, IL

Bangers & Lace in the heart of Wicker Park in Chicago obviously holds a special place in our hearts. Or maybe we’re a little warped because of all the Malört they fed us over the last year. Either way, when they rolled in with a big crew to brew It’s My Porter & I’ll Rye if I Want To, it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Next week, we’re collaborating in a major way with a beer dinner that on their end features the likes of seafood sausage and spiced donut bread pudding and on our end, Hollow Promises (wheat IPA) and barrel-aged It’s My Porter…. Get your tickets here–$60 per person (tax & gratuity not included, but a good time guaranteed).

Tuesday, December 18: Delusion Bomber Release at Greenbush

You heard it here first. The last in our barrel-aged bomber series is our most cherished creation, Delusion, the imperial cream stout aged in rye whiskey barrels. We’re releasing them at noon on Tuesday, December 18 in the taproom only. Bottles will cost $18 each and there will be a limit of two per person. Trust me when I say you’re not going to want to miss your chance at getting a couple of these–one for now perhaps, and one for a rainy day a year+ from now.

Christmas Eve & Christmas Day: Greenbush is CLOSED

Merry Christmas, folks. Enjoy the time with your friends and families as our staff does the same.

New Year’s Eve: Open until 6 p.m.

We’re closing early on New Year’s Eve because it’s just not our thing. Come visit us that afternoon for a few celebratory beers and/or to stock up for your evening and the beginning of 2013. I propose we all skip the champagne toast and clink glasses of Delusion… who’s with me?

New Year’s Day: Greenbush is CLOSED

2013 already? Bring it on. After we rest just one more day.

That’s about all for the month of December save for some notable birthday celebrations. Our dear Ambassador of Everything/Owner Jill’s birthday is on Wednesday, December 19. There’s no telling where Greenbush would be without Jill, but I can tell you the taproom would be missing a whole lot of hip hop, funk and jazz, the latter two describing both the music and the woman. Happy Birthday, lady. We’ll also be celebrating the birthday of one of our indispensable cellarmen, Mike Robinson (if you didn’t read his “Behind the Bush” blog entry, better do it now because it’s hilarious). I can personally say that Mike’s helped me with projects big and small more times than I can count. Happy Birthday, Mr. Robinson.
