It’s that time again. Time to take a look at the calendar ahead and lay out the who, what, where and why in the month ahead. In addition to all the madness of Chicago Craft Beer Week last month, we made a couple nice additions to the Sawyer taproom–a pretty 14-tap tower and a new (and still under slight construction) patio.
So that’s pretty cool. But, onward we go. Following are all the happenings this month, aside from some epic canoe racing and tap taking over, which happened last weekend at 129 Lounge in Monroe, MI.
Tuesday, June 11: Second Anniversary Party at Greenbush
It’s wildly incredible knowing that Greenbush has only (or already?) been open for two years. To celebrate, we’re throwing a little party in the Sawyer, MI taproom that should include plenty of shenanigans. The party will run all day–check out the event page for a “schedule,” but basically we’ll have games and prizes throughout the day, plus food and drink specials AND 19 beers on tap!
Wednesday, June 12: Tap Takeover at The Oak Cafe in Wyandotte, MI (date subject to change)
Yes, Chuck, we’re finally coming to Wyandotte! We’ve worked up a great list for this tap takeover. The details of timing have yet to be completely ironed out, so keep watch over our Facebook page for when we announce the details. A few hints: 8 beers on tap plus a special cask!
Thursday, June 13: Tap Takeover at Flat Rock Tap in Hammond, IN
We’re taking over half of Flat Rock’s taps in a couple weeks, so we hope to see lots of our Indiana-based fans coming out to this one! Chris and Nikki from Greenbush will be representing in the evening, so come on out and hang with some of our crew and lots of our brews. (I promise not to do that again.)
Thursday, June 13: Beer Tasting at Tosi’s Restaurant in Stevensville, MI
The wonderful Tosi’s Restaurant in Stevensville is hosting its first ever craft beer tasting on June 13, featuring 6 or 7 different breweries including yours truly. We’ll be pouring samples of 3-4 of our beers in Tosi’s garden area beginning at 6 p.m.
Friday, June 14: Tap Takeover at The Red Baron in Burton, MI
We can’t (and wouldn’t want to) stay away from the east side for too long, so we’ll be back, this time near Flint, in mid-June for a tap takeover at The Red Baron. We’ll have 12 beers on tap including Flight of the UFOnaut, Dystopia and Remnant of Dragon. Sweet.
Saturday, June 15: LivingSocial Beer Fest at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, IL *SOLD OUT*
LivingSocial is kicking off this year’s national beer fest tour (I know, right?) right in our backyard (over the “river” and through the woods, I suppose) at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. The sold out event will feature more than 60 craft beers, some of Chicago’s best food trucks, live music and exclusive after-hours access to the zoo exhibits.
Wednesday, June 19: Happy Hour at The Mitten Bar in Ludington, MI
Brian from The Mitten Bar and I are still working out the details on this one, but all you need to know is we’re having an event at one of Draft Magazine’s top 100 best beer bars in the COUNTRY! This will likely be an early evening happy hour with beer and snack pairings. We. Can’t. Wait.
Saturday, June 22: Mash Tun Festival in Chicago, IL
If you haven’t heard of the Mash Tun Journal before now, you’ve been missing out! The world’s only journal dedicated to craft beer comes out twice a year and the festival is set to celebrate issue #3. Breweries including Ale Syndicate, Ballast Point, Five Rabbits, Half Acre, Pipeworks, Solemn Oath and many more will be joining us in showing off their brews. A limited number of tickets are available for $45 each and include a copy of the journal, unlimited samples of more than 60 beers and a commemorative tasting glass.
Saturday, June 22: Wild West Summer Beer Fest in Royal Oak, MI
We’re excited to be a part of the second annual Wild West Summer Beer Fest in Royal Oak benefitting Camp Casey, a local horseback riding program for kids with cancer. Attendees will have a chance to sample 80+ craft beers, enjoy beer-inspired cuisine and enjoy live music throughout the evening. Tickets are still available–$40 for general admission or $50 for VIP admission (gets ya in an hour early with access to VIP samples). Don’t miss your chance to attend a great event and support a great cause!
They said it themselves, this installment of Solidarity events is all about celebrating hardcore craft beer. This one’s going to be at Fischman Liquors and Tavern in Chicago and be split into two sessions featuring 45+ beers from more than 20 different breweries. $45 tickets are selling fast for both the afternoon and evening sessions, so get ’em while you can!
That’s all… for now! We hope to see many of you at our upcoming anniversary party and these fantastic events throughout the month. As always, stay tuned to Facebook for events that pop up throughout the month, as they tend to do–Chicagoans, especially, as we’re working on a few different events in the city!
