Brew News: September

septemberSeptember. That’s what you see to your left; or a glimpse of it, anyway. Jen here, ushering all of us in to another month on the calendar that will likely come and go faster than we ever imagined it could, but what else is new. If you ever find yourself wondering what it is I do at Greenbush, the contents of the photo beside this account for a good deal of it–planning events, inside and out of Greenbush to help facilitate our growth and keep our customers all throughout our distribution area happy. As you can see, September is going to be a busy month, so let’s get to it.

Sunday, September 1: Check, Please! Farm to Table Festival in Baroda, MI

We covered this one back in the August Brew News, but just in case ya missed it, this is pretty much the culinary event of the summer in Southwest Michigan. Local and regional chefs collide and collaborate with local farmers to create memorable tastes for attendees. What to wash all that delicious food down with? Greenbush beer, of course. There are still a few tasting and VIP tickets available for the event happening at Round Barn Winery.

Saturday, September 7: Michigan Brewers Guild U.P. Fall Beer Festival in Marquette, MI

I strongly urge you to consider taking the day off work on Friday, September 6 and heading up to Marquette, Michigan for the U.P. Fall Beer Festival. Last year was our first time representing as a whole crew and it could not have been more excellent. Imagine this: you’re at a picturesque, grassy park looking out to Lake Michigan and you have 325 different Michigan beers to choose from for sampling. Doesn’t sound so bad, huh? Tickets available here.

Saturday, September 7: Screw City Brew Festival in Rockford, IL

The third annual Screw City Beer Festival will be held September 7th from 1-5:30 p.m. in the heart of  Rockford, IL. This year’s SCBF will host dozens of craft breweries and pour over 130 different beers. General admission tickets run just $25 and allow you 15 samples.

Saturday, September 14: The Michigan Beer Film Premiere in Kalamazoo, MI

Throughout the past year, you may have noticed a camera or two roaming around, capturing the goings-on at the brewery. Chances are that was for Kevin Rhino and Rhino Media‘s The Michigan Beer Film–a great story of entrepreneurship via craft brewing in the great state of Michigan. Grab your tickets for the premiere at the Kalamazoo State Theater and enjoy a craft beer tap takeover all in the same evening.

Wednesday, September 18: Michigan Mayhem Tap Takeover at Tribe’s Alehouse in Mokena, IL

This is one you make a trip for (just over an hour from Greenbush and perhaps less from wherever you are). Beginning at 2 p.m., Tribe’s will be tapping 40+ beers from Michigan breweries, likely including loads of specialties, knowing these guys and the great stuff they throw on tap. From the looks of it, that’ll include our pumpkin ale, Unicorn Killer, and a cask of our fresh hop ale, Demeter, with even more fresh hops. Like I said, worth the trip!

Thursday, September 19: Tap Takeover at Pints & Quarts in Muskegon, MI

We’re taking over eight taps at Pints & Quarts in Muskegon in a couple weeks. We’ve heard nothing but great things about this craft beer bar, so if you’re anywhere close, be sure to come check it out!

Friday, September 20: 7th Annual Festiv-Ale in Chicago, IL

The seventh round of Festiv-Ale in Chicago will bring together beer enthusiasts to sample handcrafted libations from the Midwest’s finest brewers. The event also features a silent auction, bucket raffle and the infamous Tower of Beer raffle. We’re sending in a ton of good beer to support the cause–the festival is an incredible fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Get your tickets today to help support and enjoy a great night out!

Saturday, September 21: Oktoberfest Celebration at One Under Bar in Livonia, MI

East siders should head to Livonia for their first ever Oktoberfest celebration on September 21. This all-day event features beer samples and authentic German food for as long as you can stand it. The beer list includes brews from places like Short’s, Atwater and New Holland, plus some more nationally recognized Oktoberfest offerings–and us, of course. Tickets are $20 and will be available at the door.

Sunday, September 22: Friends with Benefits Mug Club Golf Outing in New Buffalo, MI

We know, it’s time we did something for our mug clubbers aside from offering you killer deals and lifelong friendships in the taproom. So we’re taking a new route and planning a golf outing for as many of you as we can fit on the course! It’ll be $80 per person on Sunday, September 22 at Whittaker Woods Golf Club in New Buffalo. Right now, the event is open exclusively to mug club members–if you are a member and didn’t get the email with the ticket link, be sure to ask your server about it or email us at greenbushfriends@gmail.com.

Monday, September 23: Beer Tasting at Whole Foods in Mishawaka, IN

Word on the street is that the most-local-to-us Whole Foods Market in Mishawaka, IN recently received their first shipment of Greenbush bottled beer! Help us celebrate on Monday, September 23 from 6-9 p.m. with a beer tasting featuring Greenbush, Bell’s, Schlafly and more.

Thursday, September 26: Greenbush Tap Night at Village Inn Pizza in Grand Rapids, MI

We’re just getting started on planning this one but count on seeing six different Greenbush beers on tap at this locale on Thursday, September 26. More details to come!

Friday, September 27: Brewed in Michigan Festival in Milford, MI

We’re new to this festival now entering its seventh year but we know there’s some solid love to be shared at the event held at Bakers of Milford. Get your $30 tickets now ($40 after Sept. 20)–that includes a souvenir mini tasting mug, 12 pours from on-site brewers, 6 taste tickets from local restaurants, a door prize raffle ticket and an all-around great time.

Saturday, September 28: Weko Beach Brewers Festival in Bridgman, MI

Bridgman may be a small community [I can say that–I grew up there!] but their third annual beer festival is anything but small. This year they’ve added a bunch of Michigan favorites, including Dark Horse and Odd Side Ales, to make this one even better than the previous two. We’re breaking out some killer beers for this–after all, it is just up the road and we’d hate to disappoint! Tickets are now available online but we’ll also have some available for purchase in the taproom soon (watch our Facebook for an announcement).

Saturday, September 28: Valpo Brewfest in Valparaiso, IN (Sold Out!)

Valparaiso must know how to party, because this beer festival has long been sold out. For those of you lucky enough to nab tickets, we look forward to seeing you there! Anyone who didn’t, take a look at what’s happening and be sure to be on the ball next year!

Well, that about covers it… I hope! Anything we have to add we’ll let you know about on Facebook. Cheers to you if you made it to the bottom of this list!
