Brew News: October, Part 2

Well, folks, a lot has happened and solidified over the past week since we published the October edition of Brew News, so here we are with part two. Let’s begin with notes on upcoming events:

NEW! Friday, October 18: Greenbush Firkin Tapping at One-Eyed Betty’s in Ferndale, MI

We finally got our asses in gear and filled the One-Eyed Betty’s firkin they gave us back in the middle of the summer. With Rampage. You know, that golden ale with watermelon and white pepper that we had at the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Fest? It’s gonna be cool. 4 p.m. in Ferndale; be there.

Saturday, October 19: Pre-Game Beer Brunch at Red Rock in Ypsilanti, MI

After a little pow wow at Red Rock yesterday I’m even more excited for the Greenbush beer brunch they’ll be hosting next Saturday. In addition to their normal menu, they’re going to roll out a special brunch menu with four delightful items, all featuring recommended Greenbush beer pairings (they’ll be serving up Red Bud, Demeter, Mr. Hyde and Damn Dirty Ape). The brunch menu kicks off when they open at 11 a.m. and runs until they’re out of brunch dishes–simple as that–no reservations required. So if you live there or happen to be in town and are looking for a fun way to spend some time and eat great BBQ before the Michigan game, come on in!

Sunday, October 20: Post-Marathon Celebration at One-Eyed Betty’s in Ferndale, MI

One-Eyed Betty’s is officially the Greenbush post-marathon hangout spot. Starting when they open at 9 a.m. and throughout the day, they’ll be rocking their insanely awesome breakfast menu (per usual), but with an added bonus–4 specialty Greenbush beers on tap and brunch dish pairing recommendations. What beers will they be serving, you ask? Some beers you rarely see outside the taproom… unless you’re going to Detroit Fall Beer Fest the following weekend: Starchicken Shotgun, Damn Dirty Ape, Remnant of Dragon and Barrel-Aged Resignation (debut!!). Folks representing Greenbush (running and not) should be there by 10 a.m. and hanging around for many hours…

Now, on a different note…

Let’s talk about this mug auction we’re holding in the taproom through Monday, October 14. Basically, we think it’s time that the mugs belonging to those who’ve been booted from the club deserve caring new owners. But since we’ve passed 2000 members and some of these mugs are relatively low numbers, we think they’re something of a greater value. So we decided that auctioning off these positions, if you will, in the mug club, could be a pretty cool thing. The money made from the auction will help support the Greenbush wellness fund–yes, there is such a thing, and first on that list is the half-marathon that 12 of our staff members are running. You have to come into taproom to get all the dirty details on each storied tale, but here’s what’s up for grabs:

 Mug 159: “Invisible Man”
– Bidding starts at $100
– Winner receives mug and a gift card for one group A beer per day for 30 days

Mug 295: “Concrete Slap to the Face” as referenced on Facebook last night
– Bidding starts at $500
– Includes a replica cement mug to take home, as well as a gift card for one group A beer per day for 30 days

Mugs 763 & 764: “No Butts About It, These Two Are Jerks”
– Bidding starts at $150
– Includes BOTH mugs and two gift cards, each good for one group A beer per day for 30 days

Mug 1705: “Innuendo Bingo”
– Bidding starts at $75
– Winner receives mug and a gift card for one group A beer per day for 30 days

Those are the main update points. Hope to see you this busy weekend in the taproom! One other quick point–we’re doing what we can to pull off this new-menu thing this weekend, but it’s not 100% set in stone so we hope you can keep an open mind and be flexible about it. No matter what, Greenbush = good times.
