Brew News: November

Greetings, Greenbush blog readers. Thanks for dropping by. October was punctuated by the ever-awesome Michigan Brewers Guild Detroit Fall Beer Festival. It was colder than we were ready for but man, was the good beer flowing. I won’t lie–I’m glad we have a bit of a break before the Winter Beer Festival in February. Though keep in mind that tickets for the outdoor extravaganza in Grand Rapids go on sale December 1.

There’s plenty to look forward to and enjoy at Greenbush this month, including our evolving taproom food menu, to which we’ve just added a full dessert menu. Tell me you wouldn’t enjoy a snifter of Pain with our chocolate whoopie pie and I’ll tell you you’re crazy. Speaking of, we just rolled out bottles of both Pain (our Imperial Cream Stout) and Rage (our Double Black IPA) in limited quantities, so get your butts to the taproom ASAP. We’re also getting ready to bring back our winter seasonals, Jadis (Winter White Ale), Apathy (Oatmeal Stout), Mammoth (Weizenbock) and Ursus (Winter Olde Ale)–expect to see those right around Thanksgiving. Enough introductions, let’s get to the events…

All of November: Brewery of the Month at Sheffield’s Beer & Wine Garden in Chicago, IL

This, my friends, is a pretty huge deal. A few reasons: Sheffield’s is one of the best beer bars in the country, Scott used to work the door there, and it gives you, our fair customers, a Chicago hub for Greenbush beer all through the month of November. Expect to see a plethora Greenbush beers on tap every day, each for just $4 per pint.

Wednesday, November 6: Kaiser the Aristocrat Launch at Sheffield’s Beer & Wine Garden in Chicago, IL

Tonight marks the official launch party for our collaboration with Sheffield’s for our stint as Brewery of the Month. We’ll be celebrating Kaiser the Aristocrat, a 6.7% Rye IPA with pear juice from 5-8 p.m. CST. The party will then continue at The Metro, where Greenbush beers will also be on tap at The Fratellis show. Not bad, eh?


Saturday, November 9: Hangover Brunch at The Towne Plaza in Traverse City, MI

On the Greenbush crew’s last trip through Traverse City, we were blown away by the breakfast at The Towne Plaza. So naturally, when Traverse City Beer Week came about, we knew we had to make something happen there. Saturday will be the kickoff event of their week-long Greenbush Hangover Brunch menu, featuring an a la carte menu of items made with Greenbush beer plus beer pairings from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. running through Friday. Don’t be surprised if you see us there more than once.

Monday, November 11: Love MI Beer! at 7 Monks Taproom in Traverse City, MI

7 Monks knows what’s up and that’s a triple-threat of Michigan libations on tap the Monday of Beer Week. Swing through in the evening between 7 and 9 p.m. for a tap list featuring beers from Greenbush and Odd Side Ales and selections from Vander Mill. Chances are you may run into a collaboration or two between the different places as well…

Tuesday, November 12: Tap Takeover at Last Chance Tavern & Grill in Grand Rapids, MI

We’re not sure on the timing of this one just yet, but we’d imagine Dunegras, Starchicken Shotgun, Distorter, Anger and 1825 will be tapped not long after they open at 3 p.m. You should totally go.

Wednesday, November 13: Greenbush East at Clubhouse BFD in Rochester Hills, MI

Events at two of the best beer bars in the country in one month? How’d we get this lucky? This one kicks off around 6 p.m. and they will have 20, count ’em–twenty–Greenbush beers on tap, hence Greenbush East. Be on the look out for a bundle of limited offerings, including PHD, Owls in the Roadhouse, Barrel-Aged Dystopia and plenty more.

Thursday, November 14: Beer Dinner at bread+bar in Benton Harbor, MI

Thursday, November 21: VanderBush Party at Sheffield’s Beer & Wine Garden in Chicago, IL

Head into Sheffield’s for another celebration of Greenbush as the Brewery of the Month. We’re teaming up with Vander Mill  for an event featuring Greenbush beers, Vander Mill ciders and our collaboration beer, VanderBush, the “American” Trippel with 30% raw apple cider from Vander Mill. We hope to have a number of other specialties on tap, including barrel-aged Vander Bush (oh yeah).

Wednesday, November 27: Greenbush Open Late for Thanksgiving Eve

The taproom will be open until 11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 to welcome everyone who’s coming home for Thanksgiving. It’s going to be a great week at Greenbush, so we hope to see you all here!

Thursday, November 28: Happy Thanksgiving! Greenbush is CLOSED.
