Hey there! Been a while, huh? Happy New Year from your friends at Greenbush Brewing Co. Good news, we survived the holiday insanity–truth be told, we live for that stuff. Our 3rd annual holiday party kicked ass, we released an insane case of beer under the guise of an advent calendar, released even more specialty barrel-aged beers in the taproom and made enough holiday gift boxes to go under many a Christmas tree. But all that has passed, and we’re moving into 2014 at full-tilt. We’re already planning events into March and even starting on plans for Chicago Craft Beer Week in May. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves though–here’s what’s going down over the next month across all our distribution areas:
Friday, January 10: KBW Michigan Beer Film at Epic Theater in Kalamazoo, MI
Kalamazoo Beer Week 2014 kicks off with a showing of the Michigan Beer Film at the Epic Theater in downtown Kalamazoo (located directly above Central City Taphouse). Enjoy the film and beer samples throughout, including Jadis and Apathy from Greenbush. Tickets available for $10 at the door.
Monday, January 13: KBW Beer Dinner with Tapistry and Journeyman at Old Burdick’s in Kalamazoo, MI
Old Burdick’s in Kalamazoo is hosting a Southwest Michigan four-course beer dinner featuring beers from Greenbush and Tapistry, as well as cocktails from Journeyman Distillery. Call them at 269.343.0032 for more details and to make reservations.
Tuesday, January 14: KBW Beer Tasting at Tiffany’s in Kalamazoo, MI
Join us Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Tiffany’s Wine & Spirits Shoppe for a free tasting of a variety of Greenbush beers, including those that you can purchase at the shop, as well as a few specialties brought in just for tasting! A number of folks from the brewery will be on-hand to talk beer (our favorite thing).
Wednesday, January 15: KBW Beer Tasting at Mega-Bev in Kalamazoo, MI
Whether you’ve had Greenbush beer before or not, it’s hard to say no to a free beer tasting, am I right? We’ll be at the Mega-Bev on West Main from 12-4 p.m. on the Wednesday of Kalamazoo Beer Week, sampling out five different Greenbush beers, including at least one specialty that you can’t get in stores. Don’t miss it!
Wednesday, January 15: KBW Bowling & Beer at Airway Fun Center in Kalamazoo, MI
Bowling and craft beer… how could this not be awesome? The Tap Room at Airway Lanes will be offering at least 6 different Greenbush beers (including a few specialties!), 4-beer flights for $8 and a special beer & bowling package that includes a 4-beer flight and bowling for $12. Be there from 6-8 p.m. to join in on this sure-to-be super fun night!
Thursday, January 16: KBW Beer Tasting at Drake’s Party Center in Kalamazoo, MI
Our last hurrah during Kalamazoo Beer Week will be at Drake’s Party Center from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16. Expect to taste a variety of our bottled beers, which you can then pick up at the shop, plus taste some hard-to-find rarities from the taproom!
Really, all you have to do is look at this absurd list of barrel-aged beers to know this is an event not to be missed. We’re adding to the destruction with our own barrel-aged imperial blueberry cream stout, Cabra Perdida. They’ll also have $10 raffle tickets for all kinds of beer prizes with proceeds benefitting Washington, IL & surrounding area tornado victims. Head to Riverview Tavern in Chicago’s Roscoe Village starting at noon to partake in the wonderful madness.
Saturday, January 25: Royal Oak Music Theater Craft Beer Fest in Royal Oak, MI
Here’s another awesome event benefitting Camp Casey–a craft beer festival at the beautiful Royal Oak Music Theater. They’re offering both general admission and special VIP tickets. The VIP tickets allow you two private hours in the balcony of the theater with a collection of rare and specialty beers from all sorts of breweries (Greenbush included). No matter which ticket option you choose, you’ll get to enjoy great live entertainment and awesome beer all night. VIP doors open at 6 p.m. and GA admission starts at 7 p.m. Get your tickets here before they sell out!
Saturday, January 25: Brews in the Barn at County Line Orchard in Hobart, IN
Last but certainly not least for the month is a really cool event at the County Line Orchard in Hobart, Indiana that unfortunately is already sold out! The event will feature breweries from across the country pouring craft beer samples, live performances from the Crawpuppies and Mr. Blotto, plus an “eclectic” food buffet. Proceeds from Brews in the Barn will benefit the Hobart YMCA’s annual Changing Lives campaign, which helps offset child care and membership expenses for less fortunate families and individuals. We hope many of you already bought tickets for this one.
Well, that’s about the gist of it for January, but as always, we reserve the right to add more awesome stuff to the calendar! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest on events, beer releases, brewery news and more.
