Brew News: April

Greetings Greenbush fans/followers, craft beer drinkers and alike. Introductions can be awkward but there’s no time like the present…Emily here (if you’ve been to our taproom you’ve likely seen me in action behind the bar). First-timer with this blog stuff so bear with me as I transition into my new part-time gig doing marketing jazz and being all fancy n’ what not. I have good news and bad news. You want the bad news first? Sure, I can do that. Bad news is I can’t promise we won’t have another unexpected drop by from our not so dear acquaintance, snow. Good news is April means Sunspot is back (hip hip hooray)! That means on in the taproom and available for growler fills, on tap at bars near you AND in bottles…starting April 15th. Sunspot is definitely the star of the show event-wise this month, but we have a lot of other neat stuff going on as well. Aside from Sunspot, April marks the beginning of our busy event season, but for now here’s the low down on April happenings…we’ll overwhelm you with the rest at a later date. Oh, and just a friendly heads up, our taproom will be closed ALL day Sunday, April 20th so people can do Easter things. Fear not, we will be back to rocking our usual hours Monday, April 21st. Think you can survive? I have faith in you even if you don’t! Anyway…

Saturday, April 5: Beer Fest at the Ballpark in Lansing, MI

Ballparks are usually associated with warm weather, which feels like a distant memory for most of us Michiganders. We can’t promise awesome weather, but we can promise good beer so check out this fest from noon to 6 p.m. at the Cooley Law Stadium in downtown Lansing (Home of the Lugnuts). Sip on your choice of Red Bud, Closure, Mr. Hyde, Retribution or Brother Benjamin and let your surroundings help you escape to warm weather days . You don’t want to miss this outdoor beer, cider, and mead festival! Did I mention there would be live music as well? Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door (includes logo tasting glass and 10 tasting tickets).

Wednesday, April 9: Bowling & Tap lincolnsquarelanesTakeover at Lincoln Square Lanes in Chicago, IL

Bowling and beer go hand in hand. They’ll have six of our beers on tap and open lanes for bowling starting at 8 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m. CST.  We’ve got one of your hands covered, as for the other…well, that’s up to you. With that said, here’s what beers we’ll be featuring as you bowl the night away: Loonar Eclipse, Closure, Broken Promises, Anger, PHD and 1825. Oh and we’ll be doing free pint glass giveaways throughout the night! Who doesn’t love free stuff? Hope to see ya there!

Friday, April 11: Gardenia Bluegrass & Brew Festival in Royal Oak, MI

So our beer will be featured at the Royal Oak Farmers’ Market during this jammin’ (literally jammin’) fest. Come get down to an outstanding selection of roots and jam bands. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the after party (because after the party comes the after party) will be at Royal Oak Brewery featuring Whiskey Shivers. If you’re feelin’ groovy get tickets to the partayyy and if you’re still feelin’ groovy check out the after party.

Saturday, April 12: Blue Chip Brew Fest in Michigan City, IN

The Stardust Event Center at Blue Chip Casino is hosting the 4th Annual Blue Chip Brew fest from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. If you’ve been to this event in years past you know it doesn’t disappoint. Unfortunately, tickets are sold out, but if you’re one of the lucky to have snatched up a ticket you’re in for a treat. Make sure to stop and say hello to the Greenbush peeps and keep an eye on our Facebook page for what we’ll be pouring. For those of you who weren’t able to get tickets in time, well, there’s always next year…

Tuesday, April 15: Sunspot Launch at Greenbush

Sunspot in the house! Say whaaat? Yup, that’s right Sunspot is making its comeback for the season & what better place to hold a launch party than the location that makes all the magic happen? Already have plans this night? I’ve got a better idea…cancel them and come hang out with the Greenbush crew from open to close (well, Sunspot will be there and flowing from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m…we don’t expect your visit to span as long, but we’d definitely love to see you!). Remember- Sunspot means light at the end of the tunnel that was this horrid winter. P.S.–free pint glass with purchase of Sunspot 6-pack (don’t be greedy- limit of one per person).

Wednesday, April 16: Sunspot Launch at Division Ale House in Chicago, IL

No worries if you couldn’t make it to Sawyer to get a taste of summer, because we’re bringing it to areas near you! Keg will be tapped at 4 p.m. and Division Ale’s own Chef Wally will be serving special menu items starting at 7 p.m. If you want summer here sooner rather than later it would be in your best interest to get here!

Thursday, April 17: Sunspot Launch at The Buck in St. Joseph, MI

Sunspot, sunspot & even more sunspot! In addition to Sunspot being tapped at 4 p.m. rumor has it there will be some new developments at The Buck for your enjoyment (weather pending, of course). You know you wanna be there. And if you don’t, you should…

Friday & Saturday, April 18 & 19: Lansing Microbrew & Music Festival in Lansing, MI

Can’t make it to the ballpark earlier in the month? No biggy. We’ll let it slide if you promise you were holding off for this sweet two-day Lansing fest. Dirty Heads will be headlining Friday night and O.A.R. on Saturday. Get here Friday or Saturday or if you’re wanting to double the fun, get yourself a two-day pass. You should probably absolutely get your tickets today!

Sunday, April 20: Frank the Bunny at Logan’s Alley in Grand Rapids, MI

Our taproom is closed this day, but you can find 420 Divine Rabbits on tap at Logan’s Alley. Yes, you read that right and no, it was not a typo. Before you get any crazy ideas (I know you were thinking it!) this beer does NOT contain any contraband ingredients. It does, however, contain hemp seeds. Anyway, get here after your family Easter plans to try our killer special release collaboration with the Burn Em’ Brewing boys. Keep an eye on Facebook for event updates on this one they come.

Monday, April 21: Tap Takeover at The Boat Works in St. Clair Shores, MI

Enjoy Greenbush beer? Live in the St. Clair Shores area or looking for a random day trip? A few of our own will be hanging out while we take over 10 taps at Boat Works. Trust me when I say there will be a couple seriously limited beers making an appearance on this tap list. Event kicks off at 7 p.m. and runs until 2 a.m. Stay tuned for a tap list in the near future. For now?… try to squeeze this in your plans.

Friday & Saturday, April 25 & April 26: Baconfest in Chicago, IL

Bacon and beer? Do I really need to say more? Nah, didn’t think so (but I will anyway). We’re bringing 9 beers to this bad boy of a fest (Sunspot, Anger and 1825 throughout the fest and in addition two “wildcard specialty beers” at each session). Sadly none of our newly house cured and smoked bacon will be making an appearance (which by the way, if you haven’t tried yet you need to get to the taproom ASAP) but it’s a definite goal for next year. If you don’t have a ticket for this year’s fest your goal should be to change that next year. With that said, limited tickets are still available for the Friday dinner session.

Welp, that’s a wrap folks. Now you have the 4-1-1 so you can attend all the GB events your little heart desires. Sit tight–only 12 days until Sunspot (but who’s counting??) and until then (and after as well) keep checking up on our Facebook for updates as we get them.
