Hey guys! Sitting in a comfy spot? Have a cold beer in hand? If you answered no to either of those questions you should definitely change that before reading this blog cuz it’s about to be a loooong one. We survived last month, but might not be able to say the same about this upcoming one. May is jam-packed with events including the beloved Chicago Craft Beer Week! In addition to all the event craziness that is May we will also be launching a limited amount of Star Chicken Shotgun bottles in Indiana, Michigan and Illinois… coming
to stores near (or near-ish) you early to mid-May. If you’ve had this you know it’s a crowd pleaser and if you haven’t hurry because it will surely go fast! And now (drum roll please)… the line-up for May:
Thursday, May 1: Beer Appreciation Night featuring Greenbush & Scott Sullivan at Wrought Iron Grill in Owosso, MI
Beer makes everything better. Well, maybe not everything but MOST things. So what better than a beer appreciation night? …as if you needed an excuse to indulge in some good beer 😉 We’ll have Loonar Eclipse, Damn Dirty Ape, Star Chicken Shotgun, Broken Promises, Mr. Hyde and somethin’ extra special! Come hang out with Scott & Baney from 7 to 10 p.m. and celebrate just how much you appreciate good beer! If you didn’t get a ticket please feel free to appreciate beer in the comfort your own home or favorite craft beer serving establishment.
Friday, May 2: Tasting at Liquor Cabinet in St.Joseph, MI

Saturday, May 3: Beer City Spring Fest at Hudsonville Fairgrounds in Hudsonville, MI
Come to the fairgrounds from 1 to 6 p.m. for an array of all Michigan craft beers (including Greenbush of course). $35 VIP admission (1 hour early entry and 18 sample tickets) or $30 general admission (15 sample tickets). A little birdy said Terminator X, our American Strong Ale brewed with black strap molasses, will be making an appearance so you should too! Tickets here!
Saturday, May 3: Michigan Cask Ale Fest at Ashley’s Westland in Westland, MI
Like to have fun? Come on out to one of us GB folks favorite places, Ashley’s Westland, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a good time. Don’t like to have fun? That sucks. Tickets still available so jump on it!
Saturday, May 3: Middle of the Mitt Fest in Mt. Pleasant, MI
Check out the 2nd Annual Middle of the Mitt Craft Beer 5k Charity Run & Music Festival at the Wayside & O’Kelly’s Parking Lot in Mt. Pleasant. This event is a 5k by morning and a music & beer fest by early afternoon. Come early to run and reward yourself with beer afterward or don’t run and still reward yourself with beer! Good beer, good music, good food and a tequila tent (wait, what?). So…see you there?
Saturday, May 3 & Sunday, May 4: Gary Days/Relay for Gary/All You Can Gary Merch Sale at Greenbush
So here’s the deal- we need to make room for new spring and summer merchandise in the taproom AND help pay for some necessary Gary repairs (poor Gary). What’s this mean? It means all discontinued, out-of-season, dirty or damaged Greenbush merchandise items will be available at 20% off for the general public or 25% off for mug club members. Styles and quantities are limited, but we’ll have it all in the van.
PLUS- try your hand at beating a GB representative in a shortened game of cornhole, bags or whatever you call it for an extra 10% off! Sale runs from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Don’t let Gary Days pass you by…
Thursday, May 8: Bike Night at McDaniel’s Harley-Davidson in South Bend, IN
Nicole and Chad will be here with beer from 6 to 9 p.m. Come say hello and grab a beer. Crossroad Kings, a bluesy rock n’ roll band, will be jamming in the background, the South Bend Roller Derby will be there AND there will be a mini burlesque show at some point. Come see what it’s all about!
Saturday, May 10: American Beer Classic at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL
Looking for an excuse to visit the hallowed ground of Soldier Field [Ed’s note: yeah, I said it] aside from a football game? How about for the American Beer Classic? Session one is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. CST (VIP Noon-5 p.m.) and session two is from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. CST (VIP: 6 p.m.-11 p.m.) Get here!
Thursday, May 15: CCBW: Beer Under Glass at Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago, IL
Join us in kicking off Chicago Craft Beer Week the right way with Beer Under Glass. This event has been a huge hit in the past and this year aims to be no different. Come sip on tasty brews and munch on yummy small plates while enjoying the beautiful Garfield Conservatory from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. CST. General admission tickets are sold out but VIP tickets for conservatory members are still available.
Friday, May 16 & Saturday, May 17: World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth, MI
Sunspot, Closure, Anger, 1825, VanderBush (for realz) and Brother Benjamin will all be there & so should you! Get to Frankenmuth’s Heritage Park to sample nearly 300 different beers available from around the world. This two-day fest runs Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m. Ticket packages are available- come on party people!
Saturday, May 17: Crown Beer Fest in Crown Point, IN

Sunday, May 18: Beer Brunch at Revolución Mexican Steakhouse in Chicago, IL
Our Marketing Director (Jen) LOVES (hate is a strong word, and in this case love isn’t strong enough) Mexican food so naturally it was high priority to do a Mexican brunch/beer pairing event for CCBW. There will be four special menu items (a la carte style) each with a suggested Greenbush beer pairing (flight with all four beers also available) AND a Michigan Margarita featuring Sunspot. Join us from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST and keep an eye on our Facebook for the menu specifics!
Sunday, May 18: CCBW: Solidarity Presents Brewtality at Reggie’s in Chicago, IL
BBQ, heavy metal and good beer pretty much sum up this event. If you’re into that sort of thing you’ll definitely want tickets for this killer shindig. Beer Geek session runs from 4 to 7 p.m. CST and the Hardcore session begins at 8 p.m. CST. Come get your metal on with us!
Monday, May 19: CCBW: Mister Roger’s Neighborhood Trolley Pub Crawl in Chicago, IL
Tickets coming soon, but for now here’s the game plan for our three-bar trolley pub crawl:
- 6 p.m.- Event starts at The Dawson with food + Greenbush beer & Templeton cocktail
- 7 p.m.- Trolley picks up at The Dawson and takes riders to Lone Wolf for GB beer & Templeton shot
- 8:15 p.m.- Trolley takes riders from Lone Wolf to Sportsman’s for GB beer & Templeton shot
- 9:30 p.m.- Trolley takes riders from Sportsman’s back to The Dawson, back by 10 p.m.
Wearing a Mr. Roger’s style cardigan is optional, but your attendance is mandatory. Better see you there!
Tuesday, May 20: CCBW: Bowling & Beer at Southport Lanes in Chicago, IL

Thursday, May 22: CCBW: Greenbush & BuckleDown Collab/Arm Wrestling for Charity at Dimo’s Pizza SXC in Chicago, IL
You’re not crazy. You did in fact read arm wrestling in this event title. Not only are we launching our collaboration beer we brewed at BuckleDown Brewing in Lyons, IL here but Dimo’s, BuckleDown and yours truly will each be selecting a charity of our choice to raise money for the only way we know how…that’s right- arm wrestling. $5 buy in (beer not included). Winning team (Dimo’s, GB or BD) picks which of the three charities they would like all proceeds to be donated to. Prepare yourself for the GB/BD collab Reprehensible, a seriously tasty Red Rye IPA. A specialty beer choice from both GB and BD will also be on tap during this event 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. CST. Come arm wrestle for a good cause!
Saturday, May 24: Brewery Throwdown Champions Celebration at Ashley’s Westland in Westland, MI
Head to Ashley’s for an epic celebration of champions featuring beers from Short’s Brewing (2012 Champs), Greenbush (2013 Champs) and Right Brain (2014 Champs)! Sounds pretty awesome, huh?
Saturday, May 24: CCBW: West Loop Craft Beer Fest at Chicago French Market in Chicago, IL
Come join us at the closing event for Chicago Craft Beer Week! VIP entry begins at 12 p.m. CST and general admission is from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets are still available for the city’s largest craft beer outdoor block party so get yours today! We’ll be there with a few good beers, will you?

This place is sa-weeet! No joke. Come try some Greenbush beer tastes from 6 to 8 p.m. and check out this awesome craft beer store. I can promise you free beer, but I can’t promise you won’t leave spending more money than you wanted…worse things have happened, you definitely want to be here!
